27 January 1967: Three American astronauts burn to death in the Apollo I on the ground at Kennedy Space Center, due to a short circuit in the 50 km wires of the spacecraft.
24 April 1967: The Soviet astronaut Vladimir Komarov returns to Earth in the Sojus 1, but crashes on the grounds of Kazachstan with 650 km/h because of a parachute malfunction.
11 - 17 april 1970: Three American astronauts onboard the Apollo 13 on a mission to the moon lose oxigen. To improvise and to survive they move to their moonlander and savely return to Earth.
29 June 1971: All three astronauts of the Sojus 11 are found death in the capsule after returning to Earth due to a sudden loss of air pressure.
They just had set a record by staying 24 days on the first Russian spacestation Saljoet 1.
28 January 1986: Shortly after launch from Cape Canaveral the space shuttle Challenger exploded. All seven crew members die in the accident.
Researches blaim a broken rubber ring plus the cold weather.
1 February 2003: The space shuttle Columbia returns to Earth and falls apart while re-entering the atmosphere. The accident was caused by isolation material that damaged heat resistant tiles during lift off. When Columbia re-entered Earth's atmosphere it wasn't properly protected against the heat.
8 September 2004: The unmanned spacecraft Genesis returns to Earth after a succesfull mission to the Sun. The 2 parachutes malfunction and it crashes in the desert of Utah.
